Children's Charity Firewalk!

Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, based in Cuckfield, is putting on a Firewalk at The Farmers Public House in Scaynes Hill on Wednesday 4th November to raise much needed funds. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself by walking across 20ft of 800 degree coals. Full training beforehand. £25 deposit, which includes a bowl of chilli nachos and drink, with a minimum further sponsorship of £200. Minimum age 16 to take part. All money raised will be supporting under 5s with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments. Cuckfield opens temporary Post Office

Earlier this month a Post Office opened in the village but many would have missed it.

After Cuckfield Post Office closed back in 2018, there has been nowhere local to perform the basic PO facilities. According to a statement: ‘In order to restore Post Office services to our customers in the area, we are introducing a temporary Hosted Post Office service which will operate from The Queen’s Hall while we continue to search for a permanent solution.’

The Parish Council, the office of which is based in The Queen’s Hall, didn’t receive much notice for the opening of the new counter – but have worked quickly to facilitate the service which begun trading on 1st September.

There are clear floor markings set out and, as with any other shops, customers will be required to wear a face covering inside the Hall.

Opening times are currently listed as 9.30am-1.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It’s time to grab your walking shoes, round up your family and friends and join in Cuckfield Tennis Club’s Family Treasure Hunt around the village on 16th August. Not only is it a chance for kids and parents alike to help solve clues, hunt hidden treasure and get physical but it’s also an opportunity to explore Cuckfield and its beautiful surroundings. This year the Hunt will be tennis themed and involve searching for objects/people in some of the shop windows around the village, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled! Once the activities are over there will be an opportunity to play a little tennis too and if you would like to bring a picnic and enjoy a catch up, a number of social distancing measures will be firmly in place. If you would like to take part in the fun please email the Club Secretary to book your slot at: secretary@cuckfieldtennisclub.org.uk. Cuckfield Tennis Club’s Family Treasure Hunt will take place on Sunday 16th August starting at 11am.
